News flash everyone: getting old is hard!
These are the things they don’t teach you in college or graduate school!
I swear I was chugging right along until I hit 27/28 and then BOOM things took a serious turn! My metabolism slowed down (ugh!), I started noticed changes in my skin and even spotted a gray hair, or two! [Insert audible gasp] I know a common complaint I hear from women of all ages is that they have trouble applying eye makeup or plucking those pesky unwanted hairs in a traditional mirror.

As a woman on the go, I am always looking for new additions to my routine. I also look for products that are portable but can also serve a purpose at home.
While many of us likely have magnifying mirrors in our bathrooms at home, do you have a portable magnifying mirror?

Regardless of your job title or daily routine, if you’ve ever found yourself in a hotel room bathroom, you’ve probably noticed that most offer poor lighting and it can be challenging to get close up to the mirror. Traveling is hard enough as it is, why should our beauty routine add to that headache?
A magnifying mirror is the perfect makeup and beauty upkeep mirror!

Allow me to give you 6 reasons you need a portable magnifying mirror in your life

  1. Total insight to what is going on with your face
You needn’t wear glasses or contacts to inspect every inch of your face!
Magnification will allow us to keep our eyebrows always looking “on fleek” as well as aiding us to any other unwanted facial hair.

Also, you’re lying if you say you don’t find the slightest satisfaction in popping a zit or blackhead.

    2. Aid in applying eyeliner or mascara
Anna Faris said it best in the movie House Bunny: “The eyes are the nipples of the face” -aka there is no excuse for sloppy application!

    3. Perfect lighting

Make sure you get a magnifying mirror that also has a built in light! The last thing you want is to invest in a magnifying mirror and then have to try and use it with poor lighting.

A lighted mirror creates natural daylight and will help prevent you from applying too much powder or eyeshadow. The lighting will also allow you to see your face without any shadows which can be beneficial with contouring.

Good lighting is essential for even makeup application and will allow you to glow wherever you go!

    4. Portable
The word kind of says it all. I’ll be honest, before I had a portable magnifying mirror, I really didn’t know what I was missing out on! I was getting by, but I wasn’t giving my skin the same attention to detail that I do while at home.

I now find myself sitting in bed doing dermaplaning. [side note, if you are consider trying this yourself just know it will not be as effective as having it done by a professional] – however, I recommend these for at home use.

    5. Hands Free
A good portable magnifying mirror will either come with a foldable base (like mine), or a suction attachment. Suction attachments will allow you to adhere the mirror to most bathroom surfaces.

    6. Travel Friendly
Their small size is designed to slide easily into your handbag, suitcase or vanity while at home. They are also battery operated! One less item to worry about finding an outlet for!
