Audiology: branch of science focused on hearing and balance.

What is an audiologist? An audiologist is a licensed hearing health care professional, who diagnoses and treats hearing and balance problems. As of 2007, audiologist are required to achieve an Au.D. (Doctorate in Audiology) from an accredited university audiology graduate program.

How many years of school does it take to become an audiologist? It took 4 years of undergrad and 4 years of graduate school. Total of 8 years. (Some universities may offer an accelerated 3 year AuD program).

What kind of setting do I work in? I work for one of the “Big five” hearing aid manufacturers as a sales audiologist and account executive.

What is it like working for a hearing aid manufacturer? It is awesome and great for networking! I have the opportunity to travel, work with other hearing health care professionals, assist with patient appointments and bring the latest hearing health technology to my customers!
