Travel Tip Tuesday: Business Conference Must Haves

January 14, 2020

The holidays are over and work is back in full force! I am headed out the door today for a 5 night work conference in Las Vegas! This will be my first trip to Vegas, so feel free to follow along on my Instagram Stories this week!

Top: H&M | Pants: Madewell | Shoes: Vince Camuto | Laptop Bag: Calpak | Suitcase: Away

In anticipation of this conference, I have been stocking up on all of my conference must-haves! I love the excitement that surrounds conferences, however I do not love the stress that ensues as a result of trying to remember what to pack! Since I know this is an area where we all struggle, I have complied a list of my absolute must-haves for any work conference.

What to pack for a conference: Beauty and Wellness

Skincare: Tula | Lip Stains: NU Skin Powerlips (color: Breadwinner) & Anastasia Beverly Hills (color: Heathers)
Self Tanner: St. Tropez | Setting Powder: Laura Mercier | Makeup Setting Spray: Urban Decay | Dry Shampoo: IGK
Collagen Powder: Vital Proteins

  1. Daily Skincare: Just because it is a busy work trip, doesn’t mean you should skimp out on your routine skincare in order to save room in your suitcase. Trust me, your skin will thank you later!
    • Pro-Tip: Tula does offer travel size of all of their best selling products.
  2. Lip-Stains: You are a busy, working woman! You need something you can apply in the morning and know will last you all day long without worries of smudging or needing to reapply.
  3. Self-Tanner: I know I feel my best with a glow! An extra glow also lets you get away with wearing a little less makeup.
    • Pro-Tip: DO NOT try flying with the St. Tropez Mousse. While I absolutely love the mousse (future blog post coming) I have tried flying with mine on several occasions and each time it has exploded in my suitcase. The lotion is far more travel friendly!
  4. Setting Powder: You’ll be working longer hours than usual, set your daily face makeup with a setting powder to keep your “face” in place from sunup to sundown.
  5. Makeup Setting Spray: I recommend going the extra mile and spritzing your face with a setting spray, even after the setting powder. Keep your flawless face glowing all week long!
  6. Dry Shampoo: Those early mornings and late nights are bound to take a toll on your mane. Let your hair last longer between washes by using a dry shampoo.
    • Pro-Tip: I like spraying mine in at night and sleeping in it before brushing it out.
  7. Collagen Protein Powder: Early mornings may limit your ability to eat a nutritious breakfast. Adding collagen powder to your coffee or water will allow you to get a healthy dose of protein while also benefiting hair, skin and nail health.

What to pack for a conference: Accessories

Jewelry Organizer: Ellis James Designs | Shoe Inserts: Dr. Scholl’s | Shoes: Vince Camuto
Travel Size Wrinkle Release Spray: Target | Travel Size Febreze: Target | Mini Lint Roller: Scotch-Brite
Downy Scent Boosters: Target | Business Card Holder: Kate Spade

  1. Jewelry Organizer: sleek, portable and stores easily in your purse, carryon or suitcase! Ditch the baggies!
  2. Shoe Inserts: Wow I feel old! But in all seriousness, your feet WILL thank you!
  3. Comfortable Shoes: Ditch the heels and non-arch supporting flats. (You don’t want to find yourself at the end of day one unable to walk or worse, blisters!)
  4. Wrinkle Release Spray: An absolute must! A quick answer to all of your wrinkle woes.
  5. Febreze Spray: Being totally transparent, your pants may need a bit of freshening up after a few days on the go.
  6. Lint Roller: Buy one, put it in your suitcase and leave it. Last thing you want is to find yourself in a pinch and covered in who knows what!
  7. Scent Booster Beads: Technically these are meant to be used in the washing machine, but I stash them in a small jewelry bag (found a new purpose for these since I invested in a jewelry organizer). These beads will completely wipe out any odors due to shoes, dirty clothes, etc.
  8. Business Cards: Don’t forget to pack your business cards. You never want to find yourself in a situation where you wish you had a business card to hand out.
  9. Name Tag/Badge/ID: if applicable

What to pack for a conference: Technology and Notes

Laptop Bag: Calpak |Noise Canceling Head Phones: AirPods Pro | AirPods Pro Case Cover: Amazon | Notebook: Levenger

  1. Laptop/Cord: Seems obvious, but confession: I once left for a work trip and left my laptop at home, another time it was my charger I forgot!
  2. Phone/Charger: I have found it easiest to invest in an extra charger and leave it in your purse or carry on.
  3. Noise Canceling Headphones: Planes can be a noisy place! Whether you are wanting to binge watch the inflight entertainment, listen to a podcast/music or simply catch some shuteye, noise canceling headphones will dramatically make it easier!
    • I received the new and highly coveted AirPods Pro for Christmas [Thanks Mom!]. I had contemplated going with Bose or Sony but opted for AirPods due to their small size, portability and the fact they won’t mess up my hair while wearing them!
  4. Notepads/Pens: If you are anything like me, you have pens and notepads stashed all around your house.
    • I received this refillable notepad as a graduation gift when I received my doctorate in Audiology and I absolutely love that I can refill it when I run out of paper and it also offers a very sleek, professional look.
  5. Glasses/ Contacts: Put them in your purse the night before you are leaving so there is not a chance they are left behind. No one wants to be squinting the entire week!

Happy Traveling this week! I’ll catch up with ya’ll after VEGAS BABY!
